The cranberry has been a part of American history for centuries. It grew wild and was gathered by Native Americans for cooking, dyes and medicine. Flash forward to 1816, when cranberries were first cultivated in Cape Cod, Massachusetts by Revolutionary War veteran Captain Henry Hall. His technique of adding sand to the bogs eventually became the norm and, as they say, the rest is history.

For over 75 years the Rhodes family, founders of Edgewood Bogs, have lived in the area of Southeastern Massachusetts known as Cranberry Country. Prior to growing cranberries, the family ran a successful wooden box company. As timber was removed from the land, large areas of ideal cranberry growing soil were discovered. Today, the fourth generation of Rhodes cranberry growers harvests the same land.

Cape Cod Select was formed in 2009 as the brand name for Edgewood Bogs fresh and frozen cranberries. The idea was simple: Take back control of cleaning, sorting and packaging in order to offer a premium quality product. Cape Cod Select Premium Cranberries were first introduced into BJ’s Clubs in 2014, and were met with an overwhelmingly positive response from Club Members.
