5 Steps to Improve Your Curb Appeal
1. EARLY SPRING IS FEEDING TIME
The most important thing you can do for your lawn is to feed it. Your lawn wakes up hungry in the spring and feeding it early on strengthens roots and gets it off to a good start before the heavy growing season.
To feed your lawn and prevent crabgrass at the same time, apply Scotts Turf Builder Halts Crabgrass with Scotts Turf Builder Edgeguard Deluxe Broadcast Spreader. And to repair patches, keep a bag of Scotts Sun & Shade EZ Seed handy.
2. GIVE YOUR TOOLS A CHECKUP
Gather up your lawn and garden tools for inspection and maintenance. After removing all dirt and residue, wipe your tools down with WD-40. To release rust, soak them in white vinegar for three hours. A quick spray of WD-40 is also the remedy for tight joints on pruners and shears.
After taking inventory, you may find that some tools need replacing or upgrading. Stanley Long Handle Shovels and Rakes are built to last and make the job easier. And don’t overlook the obvious. Midwest Garden Gloves are a must-have for another season of yardwork.
3. GET OFF TO A CLEAN START
While this may be the most tiresome step, it’s also necessary to set the stage for the beauty to come. Rake your lawn clear of dead grass, leaves and other debris. For convenient disposal that’s easy on the back, use a Centurion 33-Gal. Pop-Up Waste Bag or Berkley Jensen Lawn and Leaf Bags.
It’s also time to prune dead, dangerous and overgrown tree limbs. Fiskars Power-Lever 7'-16' Pole Saw and Pruner, and Fiskars PowerGear 25" Lopper rise to the occasion for these jobs.
4. MAKE THE BEDS
Just as you did with your lawn, rake your flower beds clear of debris and remove dead plants to get the soil ready. When planting your flowers, add Miracle-Gro Garden Soil for Flowers to native soil to help grow them bigger and with more blooms. For best weed control, apply Preen Garden Weed Preventer after spreading mulch on your flower and shrub beds.
5. TURN ON THE NIGHT
Berkley Jensen Path Lights add a beautiful touch to your landscaping and are a smart safety feature, too. And to illuminate wider areas for outdoor entertaining or security purposes, install Berkley Jensen Deck Lighting, Spotlights and Security Lights.
Okay, time to get to work.
